Q Team

donalee Moulton, Principal

donalee Moulton got bitten by the entrepreneurial bug in 1994 and left her job as a director of communications in the public sector to start Quantum. It was a great job, she remembers. But she's never looked back.

In the course of a busy career, she has worked in the private sector, for all three levels of government, and for non-profit organizations.  At Quantum, she provides clients across Canada and beyond with a wide range of services including writing and editorial, media relations, government relations, crisis communications, and communications planning.

In addition, donalee is a professional journalist, with her byline in more than 100 magazines and newspapers throughout Canada and the US. This means at least a hundred conversations including, "Yes, it's a lower case d." Among the publications where her work has appeared: The Globe and Mail, The Lawyers Weekly, The National, The National Post, Investment Executive, Medical Post, Equinox, Maclean’s, and Canadian Living.

donalee has taught communications courses at Dalhousie, Saint Mary’s, and Mount Saint Vincent universities and has led professional development workshops and courses for Health Canada, the Public Health Agency of Canada, the Association of Workers' Compensation Boards of Canada, and many more. She is a woman of excellence — and can prove it. In 2008, the Canadian Progress Club, Halifax-Cornwallis branch, honoured her with a Women of Excellence award.

In her off hours, donalee retreats to her home — a home she shares with husband Allan, one cat, and a dirty-blond dog of undetermined heritage who secretly runs the whole show.

Jan Carter

Jan is the friendly voice you hear on our phone. Jan is the efficient – and fast – person behind the emails, the couriers, and the paperwork that defines business today. She's the heart of the Quantum office.

She's also an expert in ensuring clients' needs are met quickly, effectively – and with a smile. Jan has 12 years experience in the printing industry where she managed and maintained a customer account base while nurturing and growing relationships to determine the needs of the client. She directed and guided staff instilling a commitment to productivity and service quality, and she prioritized workflow through production planning and scheduling determining the fastest, most cost-effective method of production.

Jan is adept at improving processes, efficiency, staff performance and operational effectiveness. She has also been known to step aware from her desk to take Coco, the office cat, for a walk on her leash. (It's pink. The leash – not Jan.)

Kim Aerts and Kim Snider

Ms. Kim Snider and Mr. Kim Aerts are a team — in and outside the office. This talented graphic design duo have been known to spell each other for sleeping shifts in order to get the job done on time, and par excellence. This approach may have also served them well in their early days of parenting a son and daughter.

In addition to flexibility and insomnia, the Kims share a bent for innovation — and realism. They deliver designs that exceed clients' expectations without exceeding their comfort levels or breaking the bank.

Kim Aerts worked in the art and design industry for 13 years as an illustrator, designer, and art director, and takes pride in his ability to discern the client's needs and bridge the gap between plan and creative vision. Kim Snider, who studied at Mount Alison University and NSCAD, is a planner, a thinker, and a developer of award-winning designs for print and web.

Sue MacLeod, Associate

Sue MacLeod is Quantum's one-woman office in Toronto. She left Halifax in 2009 to move to Canada's least appreciated city — but couldn't bring herself to leave Quantum.

A poet, fiction writer, and photographer, she supports these beloved addictions by writing for Quantum.

In her editorial work, Sue tries to exemplify her belief that even a piece of writing as utilitarian as an application form should do its job well — and with grace. She has a background in journalism, has taught Creative Writing at Dalhousie University, has published two books, and served as Halifax's inaugural Poet Laureate.

Kirsta Stapelfeldt, Associate

Kirsta Stapelfeldt is a librarian. She’s a whiz at research and reports — and puts that expertise to work for Quantum.  Kirsta loves a challenge, and opening up the conduits between people and information through effective communication. In fact, she taught several courses in effective communication at Dalhousie University between her first graduate degree (an MA in English Literature) and her second (an MLIS, Master of Library and Information Studies). These days, you'll find her in front of her computer with 40 applications running. Smiling.
